Bristolian Briony Williams was one of the 12 contestants bidding for baking glory in The Great British Bake Off tent for 2018.
The 33-year-old, who writes about and posts pictures of her bakes online under the name Briony May, says she was inspired by her nan’s baking wisdom and uses YouTube tutorials to help her pick up trickier techniques. After a tough couple of weeks on Great British Bake Off she came out on top for the pastry week after being awarded star baker for her show-stopping Mad Hatter venison pie.
Her beautiful pie, shaped into the Mad Hatter's hat from Alice in Wonderland impressed judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith to be made top of the class. Pastry week Screened 02/10/18
She made it all the way to the semi finals and just failed to make the final.
